The city of Uralsk is the capital of West Kazakhstan and a gem at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, ideally located to take advantage of the energy-rich steppes of Western Kazakhstan and the industrial heartland of Russia, located right next door and in the same customs union. We think of this region as the Eural Belt, reaching from the Caspian Sea in the South, to the Volga port-cities of Samara and Kazan in the North, Volgograd to the West, and GazProm’s home of Orenburg to the East. Uralsk has air, road and rail transportation links to Europe and one border away along the old Silk Way is China.

The Eural Belt encompasses a population of over 40 million people, several super-giant oil and gas fields, refineries, shipbuilding, steel and aluminium production, rubber and plastics, mechanical engineering, oil processing, building materials, and much more. The population of the Eurasian Customs Union is over 185 million.

Uralsk has been a trading hub for two centuries and the city has opened its arms to European and North American investment since shortly after the fall of the Soviet Union, offering a stable and business-oriented base. The first major investment agreements were signed as early as 1992 and the city has been thriving ever since. Currently, the Operator of the Karachaganak Field, KPO (owned by Shell, Eni, Chevron, Lukoil, and KMG) has moved its regional headquarters to the city. Three new hotels are under construction in Uralsk and the refurbishment of Uralsk airport is underway, with a new 10,000m2 terminal, planned for completion at the end of 2021.  Uralsk has a well-developed infrastructure and a highly educated population

Industrial Zone

As part of its expansion strategy, the Akimat (Governor’s Administration) of the West Kazakhstan Oblast (region) has succeeded in establishing the framework necessary for the creation of an Industrial Zone, a vast area adjacent to Uralsk airport, with extraordinarily attractive investment terms.

The Industrial Zone covers an area of 281 ha. It is 15km from the city of Uralsk, close to the Uralsk-Orenburg highway, and the international Uralsk airport.
